Built for physical discretion.
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, but AsidePocket is not end-to-end encrypted. Its distinctive focus is making the messenger less obvious to a casual observer when it is concealed.
Camouflage Shells
By default, AsidePocket opens as a camouflage experience. Free accounts can choose a casual game, a travel blog, or a recipe collection; Premium adds two long-form history reading shells.
Each shell has usable content and interactions. The private messenger stays out of view until the hidden gesture and PIN are entered.
Hidden Unlock & PIN
There is no "login" button on the camouflage shell. To access your messages, you must perform a specific hidden gesture on the screen, followed by your secret PIN.
After five incorrect PIN attempts, AsidePocket applies a five-minute lockout. The API also rate-limits verification attempts. This does not protect against someone who already has authorized access.
Emergency Conceal
When you're reading a private message and someone enters the room unexpectedly, a single tap immediately locks the interface and returns you to the active camouflage shell.
Switching browser tabs conceals immediately. Premium users can also adjust how quickly the app conceals after focus moves to another window.
Private Aliases & Notes
You control a private display name for every contact, shown only inside the unlocked messenger.
Attach notes visible in your unlocked account to contacts without putting them in your device's main address book.
Connection credits
Free includes 2 lifetime unique connections. A connection is counted when you and another person successfully connect, regardless of who sent the request. Sending a request does not use capacity.
Each $5.99 connection credit adds one additional unique connection and never expires. Premium allows unlimited new connections while active; existing connections remain available if Premium later ends.
Video stays outside the app
Share an expiring link to a video hosted elsewhere. AsidePocket never uploads, stores, previews, or plays the video, keeping the app lightweight and maintaining a clear privacy boundary.
Links open in a separate browser tab and disappear from the conversation on the sender's schedule. The outside service still controls the video itself, and recipients can copy or capture anything they can view.
Make room for discretion
Keep certain conversations separate from everyday messaging. Camouflage helps reduce casual discovery; it cannot prevent screenshots or another person from accessing content already visible to them.
